Wedge resection   
Removing a small piece of the lung, usually with a surgical stapler.

White blood cells    (WBC)
General term for a variety of cells responsible for fighting invading germs, infections, and allergy-causing agents. Specific white blood cells include granulocytes and lymphocytes.

White blood count   (WBC)
The actual number of white blood cells seen in a blood sample.
