Keith Bailey, M.D.  rejoined WMCC after many years in private practice.  He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Dr. Bailey has served as Teaching Attending Physician through Michigan State University / Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies (MSU/KCMS) at both hospitals in the department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Bailey is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Michigan Society of Hematology and Oncology.

Anne Cavanagh, MD, leads WMCC’s new Quality of Life program. Dr. Cavanagh works with a team of health care professionals to coordinate specialized medical care for patients in need of relief from pain, fatigue, stress and other difficult cancer side effects.  This extra layer of support comes from doctors, nurses and other specialists and is appropriate at any age or at any stage.  The goal is to improve the quality of life for both the patient and the family.

Board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Cavanagh practiced at Bronson Methodist Hospital and Borgess Medical Center for more than 20 years.  Most recently, she served as Bronson’s Medical Director, Palliative Care.  She also cared for patients through Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice and was its medical director for two years.   Dr. Cavanagh spent 12 years in academic medicine at Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies where she was Clinical Director of Internal Medicine.

Glen D. Heggie, M.D., is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, oncology, and geriatrics. He has been in practice for more than 30 years and joined West Michigan Cancer Center in 1994. Prior to joining WMCC, he practiced in Idaho and Alabama.

Dr. Heggie is published and serves on WMCC’s Institutional Review Board. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and is on the medical staffs of  Borgess and Bronson Hospitals as well as Three Rivers Heath.

Sanja Kaluza, MD MPH, joined WMCC after completing a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Michigan State University in East Lansing.   Dr. Kaluza is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology and she oversees our new Survivorship Clinic.  As Clinic Director, her focus is to develop and implement long term care plans for cancer survivors in collaboration with WMCC social workers, dietitians, genetic counselor and financial counselors.  The Survivorship Clinic team works to address the unique needs of cancer survivors while promoting a healthy lifestyle.  Dr. Kaluza also works with the oncology team and primary care providers to monitor for recurrence in cancer survivors.  She is fluent in several languages—English, German and her native language, Bosnian/Serbian & Croatian.

Marcia Liepman, M.D., is board certified in oncology and hematology and has practiced for more than 35 years. She joined West Michigan Cancer Center in 1996.

Dr. Liepman is published and lectures frequently. She is on the medical staff at  Borgess and Bronson Hospitals, Lee Memorial Hospital and Allegan General Hospital. Before coming to WMCC, Dr. Liepman served on the staffs of University of Michigan Medical Center and University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

Bennett Yu, MD, comes to WMCC from Salisbury, Maryland where he served as Director of Oncology Research at the Peninsula Cancer Center at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.   Previously he served as a hematologist/oncologist at Henry Ford Hospital and held faculty positions at Karmanos Cancer Institute, EasternVirginia Medical School, and the Medical Oncology Branch of the NCI.  He also worked in targeted therapy phase I-III drug development at Wyeth Research (now Pfizer).  He has peer-reviewed publications in basic science, translational research and clinical trials.

His clinical interests include care of breast, lung and GI cancer patients.  Dr. Yu is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.  As the Director of Research, he is helping to improve access for patients to cutting edge clinical trials for cancer patients, improving the quality and safety of research.  He is also helping to develop collaborative research projects with faculty at WMCC, Bronson and Borgess Hospitals, the Western Michigan University School of Medicine, and other academic programs.
