The American Heart Association has named WMCC a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite!
We received this award in recognition of our efforts to build a culture of wellness and provide employees with more options to make healthy choices.
“Worksite wellness is gaining more support and popularity as an important way to improve the well-being of the workforce”, said Rachel Norman, Registered Dietitian, who also chairs the WMCC Wellness Committee. “WMCC has had an employee wellness program in place for many years and this honor from the American Heart Association validates our work”.
WMCC participates in the Borgess CorpFit program, an incentive-based wellness initiative. The program that promotes a healthy lifestyle through nutrition education, exercise promotion, and wellness screenings. Employees receive points for a variety of activities including attending wellness workshops, exercising, completing health screenings and participating in weight loss programs. At the end of the yearly program cycle, employees can redeem their points for cash awards.
“Approximately 55% of our eligible employees participate in our onsite wellness program”, said Keith Steenwyk, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director of Human Resources. “The numbers continue to rise each year”.
