Dr. Garth Tormoen

Garth Tormoen, MD PhD

Garth Tormoen is a board certified radiation oncologist at WMCC.

Dr. Tormoen joined WMCC in January 2023 after two years at a radiation oncology center in Reno, NV. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Science in materials science & engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan, and his medical doctorate and Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Tormoen completed his internship in internal medicine at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, and his radiation oncology residency at Oregon Health & Science University.

Dr. Tormoen treats all disease sites. His patients expect him to be honest and compassionate, to listen to their questions and concerns, and to be treated with dignity and respect. They should expect to have a clear understanding of their diagnosis and treatment recommendations and a personalized treatment plan that incorporates their own strengths and values, in addition to the latest advancements in radiation therapy. Dr. Tormoen sees trust and honesty as the most important factor in a physician/patient relationship. He feels that it is important that he knows what concerns and challenges his patients are facing, and his patients need to know that he is working on their behalf to improve their well-being.

Dr. Tormoen has been awarded numerous honors, has been the principal investigator and co-principal investigator on numerous research grants, and has authored over thirty publications in peer-reviewed publications.

He is a member of several professional societies including the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC), the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the Radiosurgery Society (RSS).

In his spare time Dr. Tormoen enjoys hiking and biking, golfing fishing and traveling with his family.
