Julie DiGiovanni is an board certified advanced practice provider in the departments of surgical and gynecologic oncology at WMCC.
DiGiovanni was born and raised in Macomb, MI. She resided there until graduating from high school and moved to Kalamazoo to attend college at Western Michigan University. Julie obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from WMU. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, she moved to Mesa, Arizona, to attend A.T. Still University, where she received a Master of Science in physician assistant studies.
From an early age, DiGiovanni wanted to become a physician assistant. She was drawn by the combination of having enough independence to make critical medical decisions and still have time to connect with the patient personally. The seed to have a career in oncology was planted when her grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It became DiGiovanni’s job to take her to and from appointments the summer of her senior year in high school. Her grandmother’s physician assistant took care of her as if she were part of their family. From that experience, she knew that being a PA was how she wanted to make her mark in the medical field. DiGiovanni became interested in women’s health, surgery, and oncology. Gynecologic oncology became the perfect fit, as she was able to blend her interests.
DiGiovanni’s favorite part of her job is helping patients through critical times in their lives, no matter what path their journey takes. She wants to be there to support her patients through every challenge they face.
