Two board certified, fellowship-trained surgeons have joined the WMCC gynecologic surgery and oncology team, providing area women diagnosed with benign and cancerous conditions expanded access and options for care.
David Shalowitz, MD, MSHP
David Shalowitz, MD, MSHP, is a gynecologic oncologist with expertise in the treatment of malignancies of the female reproductive tract, as well as complex gynecologic surgical care for non-cancerous conditions. He offers minimally invasive surgery with same day discharge, when appropriate, and oversees chemotherapy administration for women with gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Shalowitz is also a nationally recognized researcher in health equity and access to David Shalowitz, MD, MSHP gynecologic cancer care, and brings this background to his role as WMCC’s new Director for Health Equity and Community Outreach. “I am particularly invested in helping patients who live in rural areas overcome barriers to receiving high-quality cancer care,” said Dr. Shalowitz. “I am committed to working with patients to provide the highest quality care while making sure that all aspects of their lives are considered.”
Holly Yettaw Luts, MD
Holly Yettaw Luts, MD, specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) for complex benign conditions. Trained in laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and vaginal surgery, Dr. Yettaw Luts treats women diagnosed with fibroids, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, endometrial polyps and endometriosis. She also focuses on perioperative education and optimization to provide the best possible care for her patients. “I partner with patients and their care teams to expand their access to minimally invasive interventions allowing them to return home sooner and recover faster,” said Dr. Yettaw Luts. In addition, Dr. Yettaw Luts is the obstetrics and gynecology residency associate program director at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo.
Anna Hoekstra, MD, MPH
