WMCC Physician Elected ACRO Committee Chair
KALAMAZOO, MI, May 29, 2024 — WMCC radiation oncologist Simon A. Brown, MD., has been elected chair of the new practitioner committee of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). As chair of the committee, Dr. Brown will also serve on the ACRO Board of Chancellors.
“I am excited to champion an environment where younger doctors can connect, share ideas and grow together”, said Dr. Brown. “Our committee is dedicated to creating a collaborative space that encourages innovation and continuous learning. We also try to help new practitioners establish their practices and become better physicians for their patients.”
Dr. Brown’s role will focus on ensuring that practitioners—particularly those in community practices with limited resources—receive the support and opportunities needed to excel in both their careers and personal lives.
WMCC executive director Bridget VandenBussche, MHA CPHRM, applauded ACRO leadership for electing Dr. Brown as chair of the new practitioner committee. “Dr. Brown is an excellent radiation oncologist and will be an asset as both a mentor and as leader of this committee”, said VandenBussche. “This appointed role speaks volumes to his interpersonal skills, warm demeanor and relationships he has fostered within ACRO and its physician members.”
Dr. Brown is excited to begin serving in his new role. “I am passionate about mentorship and advocacy”, he stated. “I aim to actively recruit and support new members to our college.”
The American College of Radiation Oncology steadfastly upholds the highest standards of care for radiation therapy patients and champions success in the field through education, responsible socioeconomic advocacy, and the integration of cutting-edge science and technology into clinical practice.
