Laurence McCahill, MD

Laurence McCahill is a board certified surgical oncologist at WMCC.

Dr. McCahill has more than 25 years of experience in the management of a broad array of solid tumors. In the past 15 years he has taken a more specialized focus in caring for patients with melanoma and other skin cancer types. This includes locally advanced squamous cell and basal cell cancers, Merkel cell melanoma, and other skin cancers that require a more extensive surgical approach than typically offered at a dermatology office. He leads our comprehensive melanoma and skin cancer clinic, a collaboration of WMCC and Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed).

Additionally, Dr. McCahill focuses on endocrine surgery including the surgical treatment of thyroid and parathyroid disease, and the surgical management of soft tissue tumors including extremity, trunk and retroperitoneal sarcomas.

Dr. McCahill is a professor of surgery at WMed. He is a board-certified general surgeon and completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the City of Hope Cancer Center in 2002. Over the course of his career, Dr. McCahill has treated more than 800 melanoma patients, including 500+ in the West Michigan area in the last decade.
