Dr. Laurence McCahill, renowned West Michigan surgical oncologist with 25 years of experience, has relocated to Kalamazoo. Dr. McCahill is leading a new, comprehensive melanoma and skin cancer clinic in collaboration with West Michigan Cancer Center Radiation & Surgical Specialties (WMCC) and Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed). Dr. McCahill is a professor of surgery at WMed and sees patients in the new clinic at WMCC.
Dr. McCahill specializes in melanoma and other advanced skin cancers including locally advanced squamous cell and basal cell cancers, Merkel cell melanoma, and other skin cancers that require a more extensive surgical approach than typically offered at a dermatology office. Over the course of his career, Dr. McCahill has treated more than 800 melanoma patients, including 500+ in the West Michigan area in the last decade. As a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. McCahill also performs surgery for breast cancer.
A graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC, Dr. McCahill completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. From there, he completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA. He is board-certified in general surgery.
